Icemen firefighters kick-off Fire Prevention Week

Riley Young gives Sparky the Fire Dog a high-five during the Eielson Fire Department’s open house Oct. 5, 2014, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The open house kicked off Fire Prevention Week with this year’s theme, ‘Working smoke alarms save lives, test yours every month.’ Almost 60 percent of reported home fire deaths in 2007 to 2011 resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
