RED FLAG-Alaska 15-3 takes off under cloudy skies

A Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) F-15J Eagle takes off from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Aug. 10, 2015, during RED FLAG-Alaska (RF-A) 15-3. JASDF and Republic of Korea Air Force units are deployed to Eielson along with assorted tanker, transport, fighter and electronic warfare aircraft and support personnel from multiple U.S. service branches for RF-A, a series of Pacific Air Forces commander-directed field training exercises for U.S. and partner nation forces, providing combined offensive counter-air, interdiction, close air support, and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment.
