RED FLAG-Alaska 15-3 takes off under cloudy skies

A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 36th Fighter Squadron from Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, taxis into place at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Aug. 10, 2015, for the first simulated combat sortie of RED FLAG-Alaska (RF-A) 15-3. The Osan F-16s, as well as several A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft from Osan's 25th Fighter Squadron, are deployed to Eielson for RF-A, a series of Pacific Air Forces commander-directed field training exercises for U.S. and partner nation forces, providing combined offensive counter-air, interdiction, close air support and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment.
