RED FLAG-Alaska 15-3 takes off under cloudy skies
A Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) crew chief marshals in ROKAF F-16 Fighting Falcons alongside Japan Air Self-Defense Force F-15J Eagles at the end of the Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, flightline Aug. 10, 2015, in preparation for the first simulated combat sortie launch of RED FLAG-Alaska (RF-A) 15-3. Various units from in and outside the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) area of operations, as well as sister service and partner nation units, are deployed to Eielson for RF-A, a series of PACAF commander-directed field training exercises for U.S. and partner nation forces, providing combined offensive counter-air, interdiction, close air support, and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment.
