Eielson AFB enables U.S. Army arctic training mission
U.S. Army Sgt. Josh Merrell, an infantry troop leader with 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), assigned to Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Cleon Spencer, a 733rd Logistics Readiness Squadron combat mobility specialist assigned to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, secure a Stryker armored vehicle in the cargo area of a C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft Nov. 3, 2015, at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. Merrell and Spencer participated in the sister service coordination, enabling U.S. Army Alaska units to work with their Pacific Air Forces counterparts and Air Mobility Command Airmen and aircraft from Travis Air Force Base, Calif., to transport heavy equipment to a remote drop zone for arctic quick reaction force training.
