Air Force partnership pioneers new PFAS soil treatment technology in Alaska

This is the coarse sands fraction after it has been washed and dewatered by the sand screws and shaker at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The Air Force Civil Engineer Center recently launched a $27.6 million soil washing project to separate soil fractions and reduce the concentrations of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, in soil.
