U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Desmond Thomas, 354th Civil Engineering Squadron fire and emergency services dispatcher poses for a photo November 7, 2023 at Fire Station 1 Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. On October 19, 2023, SrA Thomas received a 911 call from a distressed mother whose infant was choking on formula. SrA Thomas used his training as a fire and emergency services dispatcher to gather the information needed to dispatch crews, and coached the mother through the cardiopulmonary resuscitation for her infant, saving the infant's life.
