U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeants from the 354th Fighter Wing pose for a group photo during a chief recognition ceremony at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, March 1, 2024. The ceremony welcomed six new Chief Master Sergeants out of the 506 senior master sergeants selected for promotion. The rank of Chief Master Sergeant is a strategic leadership position that has a tremendous influence in developing personal leadership and management skills in Airmen at all levels. In this testing cycle, only 506 of the 2,249 eligible U.S. senior master sergeants were selected for promotion making up less than 23%. The rank of Chief Master Sergeant is mandated to take up no more than 1% of the enlisted force structure. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman Spencer Hanson)
