Lt. Col. Pablo Medina, 959th Medical Group medical director of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Program, recently conducted a three-day training course on the Hyperlite 1, the Flight Medicine Clinic’s portable decompression sickness chamber, at the 354th Medical Group. The Emergency Evacuation Hyperbaric Stretcher (EEHS) course focused on providing in depth didactics and practical hands-on training. Participants learned various aspects of the EEHS system, including preparation, set up, shutdown, transport, and loading procedures.

The 354th MDG collaborated with the 168th Air National Guard unit to simulate an emergency situation where a patient in need of oxygen therapy would also require transport. The Hyperlite 1 at Eielson Air Force Base is the only hyperbaric chamber in this region of Alaska.
