New Mission New Pod

EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Senior Airman Frank Canfield assists Airman 1st Class Timothy Ogburn in replacing safety wire on a 188 Electronic Attack Pod V-ban Feb. 27 2008 at the avionics flight building. The pods, maintained by the avionics flight for Alaska's harsh arctic winters, provide an offensive electronic attack that degrades an enemy aircraft's radar. Airman Canfield is an avionics sensors journeyman. Airman Ogburn is an electronic warfare journeyman. Both are assigned to the 354th Maintenance Squadron here.
