EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Airman 1st Class Brian Stocks, 354th Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller, checks the flight radar so he can correctly place the information slip May 23 here. Airman Stocks is in charge of running flight data which controls where the planes are at in the air and the information slips contain data of when the plane took off, when it landed, and where it flew its mission. EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Staff Sgt. Jeremy Garrett, 354th Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller, checks the weather forecast May 23 in the air traffic control tower. Sergeant Garrett says during periods where there are no exercises they have on average 10 to 15 planes take off on the flightline every day with the work day split into two shifts from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on-call 24 hours a day to report at a moment's notice.
